There’s lots to learn in any new city, especially when it’s a city of 10+ million people who mostly speak a different language than the one I know. With so much to learn, it will be a while before I can say that I am fully settled and comfortable here. Meanwhile, it’s important to celebrate the little victories: today I took a bus to some friends’ house AND took the bus back home. I had taken the bus with others on several occasions, and I’d taken the bus to other locations, but until now I’d always come home by some other means. Getting home meant finding a bus that was going in the correct direction and to the right area, and getting off at the right place too. It is no small feat when there are approximately 600 bus routes in the city. To commemorate this special moment, I have taken a picture of my bus ticket home.

Here are some other things I’ve celebrated with a picture:

My first solo trip to the store (to a Walmart-like place)

First self-made breakfast in my new home, first time using my new dishes, first time using my Charlotte mug from Starbucks.

Second self-prepared breakfast, but the first time making a smoothie in my new blender!

You guessed it, third self-prepared breakfast, but the first time using my new waffle maker AND making waffles from scratch!

I am sure that I will continue to have other small victories along this path and I hope to celebrate them all. Each new adventure and each new thing learned is part of pursuing that which He has for me.
